Océ ColorStream 10000 wins
"Best Digital Product of the Year 2008" award

The Océ ColorStream 10000 has won an award at drupa being the "Best Digital Product of the Year 2008" in the category web-fed production printer full color. The awards are organized by the European Digital Press Association, an alliance of the major European trade publications for the digital print industry.

In the award presentation the ColorStreams characteristics were summarized as follows:

"The Océ ColorStream 10000 is a full-color printer that meets all the requirements of the graphic arts market for quality, productivity and cost. Great value comes from built-in Océ GraphicArts dot modulation for brilliantly sharp reproduction of black and white and color images. The Océ ColorStream 10000 delivers full process color at 168 A4 ipm for graphic arts jobs while running monochrome at 800 A4 ipm. The system supports a broad range of coated and uncoated paper, lightweight paper and heavy stock."

First three Océ ColorStreams systems sold during drupa.

Printforce from the Netherlands was first to sign for the new toner-based full color system. The system will be used mostly for the production of scientific books. Printforce is a pioneer in printing on demand and has been producing short-run books and loose-leaf pages with Océ equipment for years.

ScanLaser, another Dutch company has also signed up for the ColorStream.

Canadian printer Transcontinental is opting for the black and white version of the ColorStream, upgrade to more color always being an option.

PrintForce buys Océ ColorStream 10000

ScanLaser buys Océ ColorStream 10000

Frank Tol, Director of ScanLaser, will use the machine for the on-demand production of manuals and other technical documentation. The classical publishing industry is their target group for short run books.
